The National Convention of A.A. of Brazil is an event to spread the message of A.A. nationally, which aims to gather a great number of members and friends of A.A. from Brazil and abroad, in order to share experiences, strengths and hopes.
The first National Convention of A.A. of Brazil was held in São Paulo/SP, in February 1974, with the title “First National Conclave”. From 1974 to 1978, these first conventions were held yearly. From 1980 to 1994, they were carried out every two years; and from 1997 to 2003, every three years. From 2012 onwards, they started being held every four years.
In the years in which the A.A. of Brazil celebrated its anniversary – the ones ending in 7 –, there were special conventions, such as 1977 (30 years), 1987 (40 years), 1997 (50 years) and 2007 (60 years). In 2017, there was no Convention, but there was a promotion of A.A. nationwide through the Project “70 Years of A.A. of Brazil” by the committee of Junaab (acronym for Board of Alcoholic Anonymous of Brazil).
The next Brazilian National AA Convention will be held in Belo Horizonte, MG from April 17th-19th, 2020 and it is being built based on the principles of AA, in which all decisions are made according to the Fellowship Collective Consciousness. The agenda of this Convention is being carefully prepared to embrace all our principles (Steps, Traditions and Concepts) and all the nuances of our Spiritual Development Program.
Each Convention is unique and living a meeting of this magnitude is an unforgettable experience. If you have already attended a Convention, you know what we are talking about; if you have not attended yet, do not miss the opportunity to confirm this truth.
